yes !! is it possible to increase the speed at 1.5x with the real player?
because all the lectures of VU require real player!
moreover is it possible for VU lectures to be played in windows media player?

If VU lectures are in real media format, i.e their extension is .rmvb or .rm or .ram or .ra then you are out of luck.
These will only play in real player.
But are you sure about their format?
Would you please post the extensions of those lectures, if it isn't too taxing on you? |

I would say that is not completely true. There is always a way out. If the format is any one of the above mentioned one, you can still try to change the format with any of those conversion software. Moreover, latest versions of Media Player and Jet Audio support all real media format and do have this play speed option. @dexter811: Yes, please share file extensions of those lectures. As far as I remember, these VU lectures worked on media player and I used this speed option on all of them. On another note, try uninstalling and then reinstalling your media player, better yet, to replace it with the new version available on line. Regards |

Thanks phoenix for updating me.
In my experience, real media converters are not available for free.
Those available in markets (pirated softwares), I found them to be just trial versions with lots of limitations.
If you know about a decent converter, please let me know.
Now jet audio, just supports rm, ram, ra and rmm which means real audio but no real video (rmvb)
You can check the official documentation available at jetaudio official site.
Well, I am not sure about Windows Media Player (if you mean that from media player).
Though there are alternative players available on net for RealMedia but they all mention one or other limitations.
Such players usually use Helix player for playing most RealMedia files but fails when some files contains proprietary codecs.
Real media is a proprietary format though RealNetworks has releases some codecs but still there are some still kept under lock and key.
That's the reason for so many limitations in other players.
Real Player from RealMedia is the ultimate player for all RealMedia, either with proprietary or with open source codecs.

i am not that adept at computers !! what is file extention?? and how to share it?? when the dvd is inserted a message box opens and enumerates the contents; in the bottom it says software required is real player! i think thomas andreson is right! i am not lucky with the dvds.  |

I didn't get your problem.
Anyway, lets get back to your previous post.

Why don't you run Windows Media Player, then navigate it to DVD contents and see for yourself?
Just open Windows Media Player from the start menu.
Under File in the menu bar, you will see Open.
Click and then simply browse to the DVD and select the file to play.
Though I am still confused what problem you are facing.
