   As Punjab Public Service commision has included optional subjects this time , what will be the pattern of papers.
1)Will there be one objective type compulsory question like css papers or all subjective in optional subjects? 
2)What will be the pattern of English Precis' paper now? Earlier till 2006 English paper comprised 150 marks,  50 marks for Essay & 100 for Precis' & Grammar portion.But now Essay is of 100 marks.So confusion is that whether there may be some change in English Precis' paper.

It seems, you are the lone soul, here, vying to bear down on the goddess of PMS with full strength.

Personal Opinion:

Objective: It is generally seen that PMS dimwits are more obsessed with objective than CSS goofs! So, be on guard beforehand.

Precis and Composition: Follow the guidelines they have provided in this connection. Your question regarding the Pattern of Precis and Composition Paper is beyond me! How long will it take you to make a strategy to feel at home with the question paper, when you'll be in the examination hall? Hardly ten minutes! And even if you know the pattern in advance, it'll still take you this much of the time to kick off after a bit of reflection. Moreover, composition is something limitless, do as much as you can. And I have a question for you: Can there be anything beyond the scope of precis and composition in that paper? Obviously, not!

I have seen past papers of PMS . English Precis paper of 2005 comprised 150 marks.It had two papers each of 75 marks. One paper included Precis, translation etc. While other paper had  objective questions like fill in the blanks with proper prepositions or adjectives or adverbs etc (and prepositins are my weakest area). So to me this paper is somewhat difficult than that of Css paper.

Can you guide me how to cope with prepositions in general.

To tell you the truth, after being relieved of matriculation pedagogues I never worked on prepositions. I think cramming is not a solution as far as the use of prepositions is concerned. The most apt solution is to read a lot; especially international magazines. Moreover, as with this strategy it would take long to feel comfortable with the prepositions' usage, so, do get some help from those typical grammar and composition books, or try to get those damned lists, provided by the academies, from some academy gal/guy.

Tip to work on the lists: You know, in the most of the preposition questions, usually, they test you on the words which have a lot of permutations of meaning with different prepositions, like: go, get etc, so, pay more attention to the words of the sort.

One more thing: I've seen that at times the questions in the PMS even seem to assume a more sophisticated color than those appearing in the CSS exams. For example, I personally see their Pakistan Affairs question papers (In Punjab, at least...) as being better than those in the CSS Pakistan Affairs' paper in the same years. Moreover, I personally took PMS exam in 2007 and concluded that their marking criteria are, perhaps, tougher than the CSS (By the way, I secured very good marks that year but I was given an F in Islamyat; I could never figure it out, why! Because after Islamyat paper I was very much satisfied that, I've done it! lol ). So, my advice to you is that, don't take those PMS guys lightly if you are in Punjab. (I don't know about the exams conducted by the other provincial services.)

For English Essay: The essay I attempted that year was: "The Predicament of the Modern Man". There were other topics, as well, on which I could have written an even better essay. But I chose this particular topic because I knew that only a few of the candidates would go for it in the presence of the other relatively luring topics. That year, I was not prepared for the exam, i went to take the exam without any preparation and the only thing in my mind was not to let the examiner compare my paper with those candidates who have come well-prepared to take the exam, and it worked. I've recently posted an expansion in CSS Precis and Composition section (Every Man is the Architect of His Own Destiny) , you can see in that, as well, I took a different position from the other respected and able fellows. In another post by Miss Butt in the same section I've highlighted the same point. On the basis of my experience with PMS I would advise you to try to look different from the rest of the "population". I'm sharing it with you because I secured 82/150 in PMS 2007 English, and there were hardly any candidates in the list with this much score in English. There was no one with this much score among the 500 candidates following my roll number (I don't know whether the online result list is still present on the PPSC site or not. I always believe that those lists should not be removed from these sites so that the new aspirants could have an idea regarding the grading standards and average scores in a particular subject.), so you can see the benefits of looking different.
