PMS-2008 exam in Punjab is due on June 06, 2009. PPSC has recently announced the timetable for the exams, which is available on their web-site.
One can identify a large number of topics for the essay paper of any competitive exam. Anyhow, keeping in view the current developments and the approach of the PPSC, I've identified the following set of prospective essay topics for PMS-2008-Punjab. I've not included any of the literary topics, because it's hard to make a guess in this area. People with a literary bent of mind usually decide either to attempt one on that kind of a topic or not, while they are in the examination hall. So, I've left this area open for them to decide accordingly.
01- The Future of Democracy in Pakistan 02- Shortcomings of the Judicial system in Pakistan 03- How to resuscitate the eroded integrity of the Public Service? 04- Check and balance: a social necessity 05- Commercialization and social values? 06- IDPs and disaster management infrastructure of Pakistan? 07- Role of Media in a Democracy 08- A free media versus a responsible media? 09- Local Governments under “Devolution Plan - 2001” have failed to deliver? 10- Today’s Pakistan is fighting a war of its survival? 11- Current energy crisis and Pakistan’s energy potential? 12- Economic crunch and environmental concerns: a challenge or liability? 13- Food insecurity in the times of increasing poverty 14- Future of Capitalism? 15- Pandemics in a globalized world
I wish good luck to all the PMS-2008-Punjab candidates.

As I'm also going to appear in this exam , I have found your your proposed list of essays very helpful. Because this is the time when a person is very confused and can't decide what to study. Thank you very much Mr. Debonair.

Once again a very useful post! Thanks Debonair.
08- A free media versus a responsible media?
I am bit confused in this topic. Why responsible media is given as the opposite of free media? Don't you think that free media too can be responsible? When the term 'responsible media' is used, does it imply a controlled media?

This should be the conclusion of the essay, based upon the analysis. Regards, Debonair
