Passing written portion of CSS examination is like a dream come true but with passing the written there starts a race for preparation of interview and psychological test. In our case (i.e. CSS 2007), our result was announced on 24th day of month of September in 2007. After that we happened to receive an official letter from Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) telling us that we happened to qualify the CSS written examination. Latter, in about a month, we were asked to get some routine tests (Blood CP, Urine DR. Hepatitis ‘B’ and ‘C’ screening and X-ray chest) done from specified Medical facilities. In case of Karachi, it was JPMC and we were asked provide the report on a specified day in Federal Medical Directorate in Karachi where we were further examined by a Panel. Apart from this, those who were having the weak eye sight were required to bring in the eye-sight prescription and produce it before the panel. On the days of medical fitness examination, we were required to report at the specified location at about 9 AM. There, we were given a form and we were asked to fill it. In the form, few questions regarding family history of certain illnesses and allergies were asked. After sometime, we are required to get checked up by the doctor there. This is how our medical fitness examination was done. Those who were over-weight or under-weight were required to reduce or put-on weight and were asked to appear before medical board on a date that was communicated to the candidates through standard mail.

I would like to add some thing in this regard. Candidates are also required to pay the fee of the medical examination board. In 2008, this fee was Rs. 350. This amount can be paid in any National Bank branch but most of the time banks do not have copy of the required govt. challan form. So, it is always better to visit the venue of medical examination to obtain a copy of the said challan form. This was the scenario in Karachi. I am not sure about any other city.

Dear Dr. Asghar,

No hypertension is not a disease that can disqualify you from CSS. Even diable candidates can apply for CSS the recent example of Saima Saleem securing top position in CSS 2007 is worthy of mention. Apart from this, if you want details of medical examination for CSS follow the link below:

in medical test of css

1. your blood sample is tested for various diseases
2. your urine is tested
3. your x-ray of chest is taken

you take all these reports and proceed to the test centre.

at the test centre, they measure your height, weight, chest expansion etc. then they check your body parts etc.

then follows the eye test. they test your vision, colour-blindedness etc.

in our turn, we were asked to give a sample of our urine at the centre again.

further you may refer the link pasted by Dr. Farrukh Malik. It has all the details.

regards,
