The questions are of basic nature closely related to bachelors level. The commission needs Civil Servants and not philosopher kings. They know what to expect from a CSS aspirant and what not to expect. So take a deep breath and forget your fears about the difficulty of CSS.Set your goal and start the journey

Looking at a world map clarifies many things. It may seem as a difficult job but its very interesting. It gives you a picture of the world. You do not have to learn all the countries.Just take a continent say for example North American and study its outline say in a week's time.Next week study Europe and so on.It is not essential but is helpful in other subjects too like IR,Current Affairs and even in Essay.Remembering map is not required what is required is the overview of the map.Yes theory is very important especially in paper 1.What maps do is that they act as a learning resource to substantiate theoretical portion. For example if there is a question on ocean currents or on winds, it becomes much easier when the question is prepared through a map.nobody can remember the entire question by heart but by just looking at a map,the whole question is answered with in minutes. So don't worry that map reading is difficult and will take your precious time.Just have a look at map during your breaks for lunch, dinner or breakfast or in leisure time. With in a month you will know all important places.
