Can we get some ready made material for the " Expansion of Idea'' question. Is there any book to prepare this question.

Dear Proactive,
Hope you are doing fine. What do you mean when you are saying ready made material for Expansion of Ideas. About Books for that, well it is more a practice thing. Practice it and you will master the skill. Good luck!

In order to dispose one's mind to discover and build a capacity to bring out the stuff of the kind, one should read a few philosophical texts. Bertrand Russell can be a good option. For those among you who have a background in pure sciences, his "Conquest of Happiness" can be a good choice in this regard. I think it is in BA's English syllabus, so it would be easily available in the market.
While reading, try to develop a sense of the way the writer fabricates his sequence of ideas into a coherent thought.
Best Regards,

I am not sure why we are always looking for ready made material. perhaps it is the kind of educational system we go through. the expansion of ideas is not that hard. as Farrukh said, you just need to practice it. some of those books written have so many mistakes that it could lead to your failure rather than success. the reason i stress so much on general reading is that not only do you get ideas, you also get to see the correct use of english. also if you read the economist, it will give you a good idea of how to express your ideas in a precise form.
trust me, if you read more you will be able to breeze through both english papers.

Agree completely! the Economist is a great source of help..for essay and english paper..also for current affairs paper...
and for the expansion i'll be posting my own solution to a question which was asked in 2007 paper...
here are some tips, exclusively mine, so if oyu don't agree, then its your right!! the Q about the expansion is not that tough. look, there are many choices and you ahve to do only ONE of them...The Benefit?? yes, that's the real point, the benefir of so many choices in this Q fo you is that you can choose the choice which suits your TASTE and your background education well. you ahve to choose the choice sensibly. like there can be topics about economic development, stuff realted to english literature, philosophy, etc. so if i can write perfectly on a literary topic, so i must choose th relevant topic, not the scientific or economic one. Got my point?
i'll soon post my solution to "Art lies in concealing art", english paper 2007. till then tee cee

salam
a very beautiful and good example of expansion of idea to me is that given by Sadaqat ali shah in "exploring world of english" on page 669 i think, (sorry f m incorrect as the book is not in front of me right now but its in the chapter of expansion ...). the topic is "Make hay while the sun shines". Its very very beautifully written piece of writing. dr. farrukh is very much correct in saying its practice only and nothing else. write and then proof read it to remove mistakes and improve it further.
regards
